Larian released another massive BG3 patch that addresses dozens of issues big and small in the RPG, including your invisible criminal activity and that blood all over you and your friends. The hefty update is live on PC and PS5 now, and it also introduces a color-blind mode under the accessibility tab and some new kissing animations for at least half the companions.

BG3’s color-blind mode option lets you choose from protanopia, deuteranopia, or tritanopia settings. These will affect faction color distinctions; character portrait frames, circles, and outlines; and map icons, and you can toggle them at any time.

As for the invisible crimes, Larian said the team fixed issues where you’d get caught doing things you oughtn’t – smacking someone while unseen, for example – and adjusted how easily people can overhear you committing theft. Sneaking actually works now, in other words.

On the BG3 romance side, Lae’zel’s romance makes a bit more sense now. Since the game launched in August 2023, all it took for Lae’zel to want to sniff you – her words, not mine – was standing up for her in the Druid’s Grove. It was cute in a sad, lonely Githyanki kind of way, but it also seemed a bit hasty.

Now, Larian says you’ll have to show your worth “through actions” as well, though the patch notes don’t say what those actions are. You also can’t romance her after the creche sequence, which definitely fits better with her character.

Speaking of romance, it looks like everyone got new kissing animations, at least for the casual “kiss me” requests in camp. Twitter user RoachSpice posted a few, and they certainly are more dynamic than the original ones.

There’s a significant suite of combat fixes and improvements, including several for Cazador. You can’t shove him to his death anymore, for one thing, and he’s generally just a bit tougher. The patch also adds an even bigger set of fixes for scripting and scenario flow in each act and across the whole game. These correct issues such as characters knowing things they shouldn’t, acting rude for no apparent reason, or mistakenly behaving as if you chose an option that you didn’t.

Minthara had even more of her dialogue fixed and restored, so she’s a decent companion now. Y’know, for a war criminal.

Finally, you can use sponges or other items to clean blood from yourself and your friends between rests.

You can check out the full, lengthy patch notes on Larian’s website, though be aware they contain spoilers.

Meanwhile, Larian is still working on bringing Baldur’s Gate 3 to Xbox sometime later in 2023.
