Nets rank among Forbes’ 50 most valuable sports teams in 2020

Quite a few NBA teams are among the 50 most valuable in all of sports. No. 1 among all basketball teams in a New York-based team.

Hearing about how much money athletes and owners of sports teams have isn’t exactly at the top of people’s minds as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to create problems in America, while others are combatting social injustice.

Regardless, it’s that time of year when Forbes rolls out its rankings of the most valuable franchises in all of sports.

This year’s list featured nine NBA franchises, second to only the NFL (27). To no one’s surprise, the Dallas Cowboys ($5.5 billion) are the No. 1 overall team. Two spots below them is the top-ranked NBA team: the New York Knicks ($4.6 billion).

Then there’s the Los Angeles Lakers ($4.4 billion) at No. 4 overall and the Golden State Warriors ($4.3 billion) at No. 5.

The Chicago Bulls ($3.2 billion, tied No. 17 overall) and Boston Celtics ($3.1 billion, tied No. 20 overall) round out the NBA’s top five most valuable teams. Then there’s the Los Angeles Clippers at No. 36 overall ($2.6 billion).

A couple spots later Brooklyn Nets fans will find their team tied at No. 38 overall with Los Angeles Chargers. Both teams are valued at $2.5 billion.

The other three NBA teams featured on Forbes’ list are the Houston Rockets ($2.48 billion, No. 40 overall) and Dallas Mavericks ($2.4 billion, tied 41 overall).
