The Brooklyn Nets may be dealing with the current Kevin Durant saga that has them in a chokehold at the moment, but they are currently taking care of their own free agents as they begin the free agency period.
After bringing back Patty Mills on a 2-year deal, the Nets will also bring back young big man Nic Claxton on a 2-year $20 million deal.
Claxton played in 47 games, with 19 starts, and he averaged a career-high 20.7 minutes in the 2021-22 season. He averaged 8.7 points and 5.6 rebounds while doing a terrific job of bringing energy on a nightly basis. His defensive ability around the basket was helpful and he converted on 67.4% of his attempts on the season, mostly around the rim.
Restricted free agent C Nic Claxton has agreed on a two-year, $20 million deal to return to the Brooklyn Nets, sources tell ESPN.

Claxton will have to improve his free-throw shooting, but he looks like he is going to be a consistent part of Brooklyn’s rotation regardless of what’s going on with Durant and Kyrie Irving.
