NASCAR has revealed the location that will decide the 2025 Cup Series champion. On Thursday morning, NASCAR announced that Phoenix Raceway will return as the location for the sport’s championship weekend in 2025. Phoenix took over for Homestead-Miami Speedway in 2020 and has held the races since then.
However, NASCAR drivers and others in the industry want the sport to move championship weekend to another location. This is due to the desire for a new look and feel, as Phoenix has consistently been the spot where NASCAR ends its season. Plus, most of the NASCAR fanbase doesn’t want to see Phoenix hold the championship due to its limited passing and excitement.

The most frequent request has been a return to Homestead, which could occur in 2026 after Homestead officials passed a resolution to bid for NASCAR’s championship weekend. For now, NASCAR will end its season at Phoenix for a sixth straight time in 2025, but the sport could move to a different location the following year.
