Texas closed out the 2022 recruiting cycle on a high note.
Steve Sarkisian’s first full class for the Longhorns is rated the No. 5 recruiting class in the nation, and it included four additions from the transfer portal — Quinn Ewers, Isaiah Neyor, Jahleel Billingsley and Ryan Watts — who are expected to fight for starting roles immediately.
While some position groups significantly improved throughout the 2022 cycle, such as the offensive line, there are a few needs that were not addressed.
Linebacker remains one of the biggest needs on Texas’ roster, while you can never have too many blue-chip players in the trenches. Even with Xavier Worthy emerging as a superstar and the addition of Neyor from the portal, depth is still needed at wide receiver.
The most obvious target for Texas in the 2023 class is five-star quarterback Arch Manning. Much of the momentum for this cycle will depend on his decision.
