Michigan State football has landed a national champion through the NCAA transfer portal.

This is where Mel Tucker’s history as the defensive coordinator at Georgia from 2016-18 will pay some dividends. Ameer Speed was a 3-star cornerback coming out of Jacksonville, Florida in 2017. Michigan State football finished second in his recruitment, losing him to Georgia and his then recruiter… Mel Tucker.

On Tuesday, the Spartans were finally able to land Speed via the transfer portal and add him to a very promising 2022 transfer class.

Speed has impressive size at the corner position, standing at 6’3″ and 211-pounds. He started in a few games this year for Georgia, so he brings with him great experience and the talent that led him to start, at least for a time, on one of the best defenses in the nation.
