Melvin Gordon says Broncos RB Phillip Lindsay has reached out to him

Phillip Lindsay has already reached out to Melvin Gordon to welcome him to the Broncos.

During an appearance on The Herd with Colin Cowherd this week, new Broncos running back Melvin Gordon noted that he has already heard from several coaches and teammates — including fellow running back Phillip Lindsay.

“The running backs coach [Curtus Modkins] talked to me, I actually [also] talked to the offensive coordinator [Pat Shurmur] today,” Gordon told Cowherd on Monday. “I reached out to Drew [Lock], I [already know] Von [Von Miller]. Phillip Lindsay hit me up.”

It seems like a good sign that Lindsay has been welcoming toward Gordon given that Gordon will now be the presumed starter. That will likely give Lindsay extra motivation for the 2020 season.

Gordon also talked to Cowherd about how the coronavirus is impacting his offseason training.

“I’m working out, man, but they just started closing gyms down here — I’m in Florida right now training — and they just started closing down the gyms,” Gordon said. “So they’re making it a bit difficult, man, we’re trying to run around and find what we can to get it in and work out.

“Not every guy has a gym in their house . . . so it’s going to be a lot of pushups and jogging here in a little bit. We’re trying to make the best out of what we got but they’re closing every down, man, it’s crazy.”

NFL teams will not have organized workouts this spring but there’s still a possibility that training camps might take place later this summer.
