Former Vol Max Ferguson assigned to Fort Wayne and records two hits in his first game.

Former Tennessee player Max Ferguson debuted for the Fort Wayne TinCaps Tuesday.

The TinCaps compete in the Midwest League and are a High-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres.

Ferguson went 2-for-5, recording one walk and one run in his first game with the TinCaps. Fort Wayne defeated the West Michigan Whitecaps, 8-3.

Ferguson was assigned to Fort Wayne from the Lake Elsinore Storm, the Padres’ Single-A affiliate, of the California League.

The former Vol appeared in 64 games in 2022 for Lake Elsinore. He recorded a .247 batting average, totaling 59 hits, nine doubles, five triples, three home runs, 39 RBIs, 63 runs, 61 walks and 51 stolen bases.

Ferguson was selected by San Diego in the 2021 MLB draft. He was drafted in the fifth round with the 160th overall selection.
