Matt Ioannidis suffered torn bicep; will miss remainder of 2020 season

Matt Ioannidis reportedly suffered a torn bicep in Sunday’s game, and will likely miss the remainder of the season.

It’s never good news when a player goes to the locker room during a game, and word quickly comes back that he’s out for the game.

That’s exactly what happened to Washington defensive lineman Matt Ioannidis on Sunday against the Cleveland Browns, when he exited the game in the first quarter and came back wearing street clothes, and later a sling. According to Team 980’s Kevin Sheehan, and later confirmed by NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, Ioannidis suffered a torn bicep, and he will likely miss the remainder of the 2020 season.

This is a brutal blow for the Washington defensive line, who also lost Chase Young for the game on Sunday with a groin injury. There is enough depth on the front line to make due going forward, but Ioannidis was a huge piece for this defense, and he was among the best players on the defensive roster.
