The Atlanta Falcons selected Texas running back Bijan Robinson with the No. 8 pick in the 2023 NFL draft on Thursday night.
Robinson was one of the top overall prospects in this draft, landing as high as No. 2 on Todd McShay’s final Big Board. Regardless of how teams value the position in today’s NFL, Robinson’s elite traits were clearly worthy of a high selection.
The Falcons coaching staff expressed to Robinson that he was their target all along.
“You just fit,” they told Robinson when his phone rang while Atlanta was on the clock in the first round. “You’re going to fit right in here when it comes to personality and the way you play on the field.”
The former Longhorn arrived in Atlanta on Friday afternoon and posed with general manager Terry Fontenot and head coach Arthur Smith. It’s just the beginning of what is expected to be a successful professional career for Robinson.
