It seemed a little over the top with how an announcer, Louis Riddick, was gushing of how “proud” he was of the play by the Baltimore Ravens and Cleveland Browns on Monday.
Why, pray tell, would a broadcaster be “proud” of teams? Didn’t make much sense … unless said announcer had eyes on a position with a team that would make his feelings important to potential employers.
And Wednesday came news from Adam Schefter and Chris Mortenson of ESPN that Riddick is going to interview for the Detroit Lions GM job.
ESPN Monday Night Football analyst Louis Riddick is interviewing today for the Houston Texans’ general manager job, sources tell @mortreport and me. Riddick then is scheduled to interview Friday for the Lions’ GM job.

Amazing how they were able to break the story about fellow ESPN colleague interviewing for a job, right?
Riddick will interview for the open job in Houston on Wednesday and then in Detroit on Friday. He last worked in a football executive position in Philadelphia back in 2013. Riddick is the first known external candidate to interview for the general manager position for the Lions.
