Lincoln Riley was not suffering from COVID-19. That’s an important piece of news at USC after Riley missed multiple practice sessions earlier this week. It was revealed on Wednesday Riley was being treated for pneumonia. He returned to the practice field on Wednesday after not making Monday’s or Tuesday’s practices.
This follows a weird and mysterious two-day period in which plans were put in place for receivers coach Dennis Simmons to become acting head coach and Kliff Kingsbury was elevated to an assistant coach.
How USC will respond to this unusual week of practice becomes an added source of intrigue before the Trojans go to Berkeley to face the California Golden Bears this weekend.
