LeBron James on Lillard and McCollum: ‘It’s a two-headed monster’

LeBron James knows where things begin and end for the Portland Trail Blazers, their backcourt duo Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum.

LeBron James knows where the Los Angeles Lakers must turn their attention first and foremost if they are going to avoid a scare in the first round of the playoffs. And while Damian Lillard has gotten all the headlines and awards for his play in the bubble, Lillard is not the only monster on the perimeter the Lakers have to deal with, according to LeBron.

When asked for a scouting report on the Blazers, LeBron James told Bleacher Report’s Taylor Rooks that the Lakers are facing a two-headed monster in Lillard and his backcourt-mate CJ McCollum, who had 29 points in the Blazers play-in win over the Grizzlies.

“They have a two-headed monster in Dame and CJ. It starts and ends with those guys,” James said. “They control the tempo, they control the pace, they do all the ballhandling. They are the rock for that franchise, they have seen it all. They have playoff experience, great chemistry. We need 10 eyes on the ball, with two on the ball and the other 8 on them at all times.”

LeBron also said that he is not approaching this series as if it were a 1 vs. 8, saying that he is approaching it as they are playing the Blazers, rather than what the seeds say about the teams coming into the playoffs. If it wasn’t clear before, LeBron has a lot of respect for what this Blazers team brings to the table.
