Last week, [autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] said on the Paul Finebaum Show that he would like to see the world of College Football get back to an even playing field.
The current state of the transfer portal, as well as NIL, has given several programs an upper hand in recruiting, and Saban hopes that College Football will one day become more balanced.
“One of the things I’d like to see us be able to work back to is everything in college football has always had parity: same scholarships, same academic support, healthcare, whatever it is. I don’t think we have that balance right now which could affect the parity of college football and athletics as a whole.”
Since Saban took over the program in 2007, Alabama has been one of the more dominant programs in college football, which has led to an advantage in recruiting as well as keeping top-notch facilities. Because of that, Saban’s comments caused a few eyes to roll, including those of Lane Kiffin.
Kiffin, the current head coach of Ole Miss football and former offensive coordinator for Nick Saban at Alabama, had a strong response to Nick Saban’s recent comments about hoping to see more “parity” in college football.

Of course in this context, it is easy to see why most opposing fans, even coaches, seem to have issues with Saban’s comments. However, if Saban’s wish of seeing more scholarships, support for academics, as well as medical treatment, it could be a great sign for the growth of college football.
