Lakers feeling confident they can stop Sixers’ Joel Embiid with Anthony Davis

The Los Angeles Lakers are feeling confident they can stop Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid with Anthony Davis.

PHILADELPHIA — The Los Angeles Lakers are paying a visit to the Wells Fargo Center on Friday to take on the Philadelphia 76ers, and they are looking to bounce back from two consecutive losses on this road trip.

The Sixers are in a similar position. They have lost three in a row and are looking to kick off a seven-game homestand the right way. With Joel Embiid ready to go, the Sixers are looking to hop on the big fella’s back and pick up a win.

Embiid is averaging 31.9 points and shooting 51.4% from the floor, but the Lakers feature a star big man of their own, Anthony Davis, and they are feeling confident they can stop Embiid.

“We got Anthony Davis,” Lakers guard Lonnie Walker IV said succinctly. “That’s all I worry about. I’m not too worried about him. He’s a terrific player, three-level scorer. You know what he does. He’s one of the most unstoppable players in the league, but we got great players on our side, too. So I’m worried about me and mines, knowing the game plan on what we’re doing against him, and just trying to get a win.”

Per Land of Basketball, Embiid and Davis have matched up six times with Embiid coming away with five wins in those matchups. The big fella has averaged 22.3 points and 10.5 rebounds against Davis in his career.

Walker IV added he has a lot of respect for Embiid, and how talented he is, but he is confident in what Davis can do and how he can put a stop to the Philadelphia star.

“Joel Embiid is a terrific, fantastic player,” Walker IV added. “With the Spurs, I mean, it was almost impossible to stop him sometimes. This is another testament of who AD is, what he is yet to become, and I’m excited.”
