Lakers at Wizards: Davis has 26 but Lakers falter in D.C.

The Los Angeles Lakers finished their final extended road trip of the season in a loss against the Washington Wizards.

Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis had yet another efficient night from the field but the Brow’s efforts alone were not enough to slow down a red-hot Washington Wizards team that continues their recent rise up the Eastern Conference standings. Washington closed out the Lakers on Wednesday night, 116-107.

Russell Westbrook was the star for the Wizards, scoring 18 points, 18 rebounds, and 14 assists while the NBA’s second-leading scorer, Bradley Beal, had 27 for Washington.

In addition to 26 points on 50% shooting for Davis, Andre Drummond filled up the stat-sheet with 17 points and 11 rebounds on the night. While the Lakers were able to generate a great deal of 3-point attempts, they shot only 29% from the 3-point line.

The Lakers defense, which has been their calling card all season long, delivered little resistance in their final game before returning home to Los Angeles as the Wizards shot over 52% from the field. Washington’s efficient shooting was fueled by 62 points in the paint.
