We’ve heard it all by now. Justin Fields can’t progress through his reads, doesn’t have the arm strength, and most shockingly and outrageous, might not have a love for the game or work ethic.
But what about the game film? What about the stats? What about the leadership, toughness, and head-to-head matchups with Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence? That all doesn’t seem to matter to most draft analysts in the know, or maybe, if you believe it all, those making decisions in the draft.
None of it makes sense to “Good Morning Football’s” Kyle Brandt. He put forth a litany of reasons why Justin Fields should be considered one of the top three prospects in this year’s NFL draft.
“I think the biggest story of the draft is what’s going on with Justin Fields. I’m worried about the fall, I’m afraid of the fall he’s going to take. I don’t know if you guys saw Chris Simms’ mock yesterday? Chris Simms has him falling to (pick) 32, all the way down to the (Tampa Bay) Bucs, and I don’t think it’s wild.
We’re one day out from the draft and all these other quarterbacks have these real tangible, obvious doubts or knocks. (Zach) Wilson, the level of competition. (Trey) Lance is really obvious, Mac Jones is not a spectacular athlete. As we’re one day out, can someone tell me what is wrong with Justin Fields? I don’t see it. Let’s look at the facts.”
Brandt then goes on to talk about the measurables, accuracy, experience, arm strength, and leadership. All qualities you obviously want in the face of an NFL franchise, and all things that are high level with Fields. Then he slings it all out there.
“So what is missing? Why is he going to fall? His coach Ryan Day screams about it. ‘Get this guy, draft this guy.’ And you might think, ‘all the coaches do that.’ No, no, no — two years ago Ryan Day said Dwayne Haskins, ‘not so sure, maybe he should come back.’ He will not stop talking about Justin Fields, and apparently, no one’s going to draft him.
I think that the Niners should take him, I think the Jets should take him at (pick) two, and from what I’m hearing, nobody is going to take him. I like Fields more than the field, and I don’t know what’s wrong with him. This guy seems perfect to me, and yet there’s an ick on him and I don’t get it.”
Tell me what’s wrong with Justin Fields. Because I can’t find it. Love this player. pic.twitter.com/C5193eyWKj

Preach it, brother Brandt, the choir is and scarlet and gray congregation is listening intently.
