LSU’s hype train continued with ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit offering high praise.
Herbstreit is a believer in Brian Kelly.
“I think he’s built for it,” he said. “Can you imagine being the head coach at Notre Dame as long as he was? He’s dealt with everything. So I think he’ll be fine.”
Herbstreit noted the tough opener against Florida State, a game expected to feature two preseason top-10 teams. The winner of that contest could check off an important box on the resume.
“LSU’s got some players. If they win that first game against Florida State, they’ll be dangerous,” Herbstreit said.
When Kelly took the LSU job in 2021, it looked like a full rebuild. After going 10-4 in Year 1 with a win over Alabama and a SEC title game appearance, the expectations shifted.
This is now a group garnering playoff hype and, in the eyes of some, national title hype.
