K Cade York signs his rookie contract with the Browns

York puts pen to paper the same day he was seen hitting booming kicks inside FirstEnergy Stadium (video included) to close minicamp. Only 1 draft pick is left unsigned:

The Cleveland Browns just wrapped up their mandatory minicamp and now get a month and a half, or so, to prepare for the start of training camp. The team has a lot of things left that could change between now and the start of the season but hope for mostly stability.

Just following the completion of minicamp, the Browns announced that they had signed kicker Cade York to his four-year rookie contract. His signing leaves only fellow fourth-rounder Perrion Winfrey unsigned from Cleveland’s 2022 draft class.

As we shared previously, the Houston Texans may have caused a delay in players signing from the fourth round after they gave a larger bonus to their selection from that round.

York has impressed early in offseason activities including some booming kicks. Earlier Thursday, he showed off his leg at FirstEnergy Stadium:

The Browns struggled in the kicking game last year and hope that their investment in York pays off. Making sure there was no delay in getting him signed before training camp helps that process.

As the lone player left unsigned by the team, it will be interesting when Winfrey’s deal gets officially done. Expected to be a day two selection, the defensive tackle fell to Cleveland in the fourth round.
