Josh Downs leads all rookie WR’s in this stat

Former UNC football wide receiver Josh Downs leads all rookies at his position in the NFL.

Former North Carolina wide receiver Josh Downs hasn’t found the end zone just yet in five games in the NFL. But the Indianapolis Colts receiver is making an impact early on.

Downs has been a favorite target of both Anthony Richardson and Gardner Minshew this season, primarily working in the slot in the Colts’ offense.

And through five games, Downs is leading all rookie wide receivers in a key stat. Per Pro Football Focus, Downs has the most targets (30) among rookie receivers without a drop this season.

That’s an impressive stat for a receiver who showed off his sure hands at North Carolina:

As the Colts are in the middle of a rebuild, they are doing so around quarterback Anthony Richardson as well as Downs. The results have been pretty good so far for Downs in his first five games.

Now, Downs is looking to get in the end zone and continue to make an impression.
