Josh Allen predicted as Bills’ MVP in 2020

NFL.com predicts quarterback Josh Allen to be the Buffalo Bills’ MVP in 2020.

NFL.com predicted each NFL team’s MVP for the upcoming 2020 season. While acknowledging that the spotlight is shining bright on quarterback Josh Allen in Orchard Park, there’s a boost of confidence in the signal caller as well.

For the Bills, their future MVP prediction for next season was Allen from the outlet, despite mentioning the pressure is turned up a little bit next season.

Here’s why:

The Bills are poised to take the AFC East over from the Patriots, but so much comes down to Allen. Is he a versatile playmaker just starting to scratch the surface of his potential? Or do we already know the deal: that he’s an up-and-down performer whose issues with throwing accuracy and ball security will keep him in the middle class of the league’s starting quarterbacks? The Bills certainly believe in Allen, and the decision to surrender a first-round pick in exchange for Pro Bowl wide receiver Stefon Diggs was both a vote of confidence and a call to action: We drafted you to be a star … now be a star.

Allen having some pressure on him is a fair assessment. When you do all you can to help a QB, namely getting a No. 1 wide receiver in the likes of Diggs like Buffalo general manager Brandon Beane did, there’s certainly a layer of pressure added. While Allen has left a little to be desired as a QB at the pro level thus far with his arm, he hasn’t left any room to debate weather or not he’s a gamer. Folks can poke holes all they want in his throwing, which admittedly needs to improve, but he’s 15-12 overall as a quarterback with a playoff appearance. Aside from Ravens quarterback and defending league MVP Lamar Jackson, Allen looks poised to be one of the best quarterbacks from the 2018 draft class. If Allen continues to win games, even if his arm is coming along slow and steady, he’s not going anywhere.

For what it’s worth, here’s which players were predicted to be their team MVPs for their clubs in the AFC East in 2020:

Jets: QB Sam Darnold

Patriots: CB Stephon Gilmore

Dolphins: WR DeVante Parker
