The 2024 Indianapolis 500 is complete, and it has created one of the most incredible finishes in the event’s history. [autotag]Josef Newgarden[/autotag] was passed by Pato O’Ward and had one more opportunity to get by the Arrow McLaren. Newgarden got a run off Turn 2 on the final lap and passed O’Ward after a gutsy move in Turn 3. The Team Penske driver earned his second straight Indy 500 victory.
Newgarden couldn’t believe what he accomplished and celebrated with the fans in the stands. Meanwhile, O’Ward was devastated on pit road, shocked at what happened on the final lap. As for Kyle Larson, he was caught speeding on pit road late in the event and was forced to perform a pass-through penalty. Larson finished in 18th place.

Newgarden will forever remember this moment as the greatest pass of his life while O’Ward ponders what could have been. It was a crazy two weeks of action, and several thought the Indianapolis 500 would be moved to Monday. Instead, Newgarden went back-to-back for the first time in 20 years and earned his second career Indianapolis 500 victory.
