Almost every NFL player eventually has it: The “best shape of his life” story.
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow is apparently checking that one off the list early in his career to get it out of the way.
This week, Burrow appeared on “Good Morning America” and dropped the following, according to ESPN’s Ben Baby:
“I feel great right now. I’m in the best shape of my life. Everybody around the league is preparing like business as usual, like we’re going to be reporting in a couple weeks and getting ready to play.”
Burrow was there to chat about his latest bit of leading by example via his hunger relief fund.
But the No. 1 pick in the 2020 draft was always going to get some softballs about football lobbed at him too, hence the above.
Kidding aside, Burrow is undoubtedly in the best shape of his life. Earlier this offseason he told media he’d tightened up his diet to achieve better conditioning ahead of his rookie season. He’s also obviously been working out regularly and has had throwing sessions at schools in Athens, Ohio.
Always the candid, good interview, Burrow’s latest hits on a common trope that is true nonetheless as he gets ready for camp at the end of the month.
