Jets to allow Mike LaFleur to pursue other opportunities

Mike LaFleur is out

The New York Jets are moving on from offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur and allowing him to pursue other opportunities, per Zach Rosenblatt of The Athletic.

LaFleur’s future was in question after the Jets struggled to a 25th place finish in Football Outsiders’ DVOA metric and head coach Robert Saleh said he was still going through his process. He also mentioned the possibility of bringing in a veteran assistant on offense.

The Jets went through three starting quarterbacks and had four play in some fashion altogether during the 2022 season and play-calling was considered an issue for the team. Granted, the lacked a ton of firepower on offense, especially after the injuries to Breece Hall and Alijah Vera-Tucker.

New York went the final three games of the season without scoring a touchdown, scoring a total of 15 points on just five field goals against the Jaguars, Seahawks and Dolphins.

Per Connor Hughes of SNY, the Jets were planning to bring back LaFleur but after other teams reached out to him, the Jets decided to allow LaFleur to pursue those opportunities.

The Jets will begin their search for a new offensive coordinator Thursday.
