Jameson Williams may be drafted to an already Alabama-centered NFL offense

Jamo would be joining an offense headlined by former Crimson Tide stars!

Former Alabama wide receiver Jameson Williams spent only one season with the Crimson Tide after transferring in from Ohio State, where he spent the first two years of his collegiate career. Despite the brief amount of time he had in Tuscaloosa, Crimson Tide fans couldn’t get enough of the speedy wide receiver.

In fact, Williams will likely become yet another wide receiver to come out of Alabama and be drafted in the first round of the NFL draft.

Originally expected to be the first wide receiver selected, Williams suffered a torn ACL in the national championship game. The injury did lower his projected draft position, but not by much.

In the latest 2022 NFL mock draft done by USA TODAY’s Nate Davis, Williams is projected to be drafted at No. 22 overall by the New England Patriots.

Davis writes,

“No reason to waste (more) time before remedying 2019’s first-round mistake with WR N’Keal Harry. Williams might be a top-10 pick had he not torn an ACL in the national championship loss to Georgia. He’s a burner who was remarkably productive in 2021, averaging 100 receiving yards and a TD catch per game. The Ohio State transfer didn’t play with Pats QB Mac Jones in Tuscaloosa, but – as soon as he’s healthy – he has the goods to develop into the dominant target this team has long lacked.”

It’s true, Williams never got to play alongside quarterback Mac Jones or running back Damien Harris, but they have all been coached by Nick Saban, which basically makes them family.

The New England Patriots made the NFL playoffs this past season, despite having a rookie quarterback and some missing pieces throughout the team. One of the positions that needs to be addressed in the offseason is wide receiver. Williams not only fills a gap, but could be a legitimate difference-maker on the team.
