James Harden is doing things only one Net ever has — someone who holds a special place in the heart of Nets fans. Harden entered Tuesday’s game with three triple-doubles to his name as a member of the Nets, on top of his four double-doubles. No one but Jason Kidd had logged that many triple-doubles as a member of the Nets since Shawn Bradley’s 1995-96 run with New Jersey.
While Kidd wasn’t the only one to log three triple-doubles for the Nets in a single before Harden did so, no player in franchise history outside of the Hall of Fame point guard had logged four or more triple-doubles in a season — something Kidd accomplished seven times. That changed when Brooklyn knocked off the Los Angeles Clippers 124-120 on Tuesday.
Harden finished with 23 points, 14 assists and 11 rebounds against Kawhi Leonard and company, logging his fourth triple-double in his ninth game with the Nets.
“It’s not about points for me, Harden said on a Zoom call with reporters after the win. “It’s not about stats for me. It’s about getting a win. I think since I’ve been here, I’ve tried to do whatever it takes in order for us to have a win. That’s all that matters.”
