The Arizona Cardinals are the only undefeated team in the NFL at 6-0. They have four road wins to their credit so far this season. They have scored over 30 points in five of their six games. They have allowed 20 or fewer points in five of six games.
It’s time to tell it the way it is.
There is no doubt that, right now, the Cardinals are the best team in the NFL.
What else could they have done?
Let’s look at the resume of the teams some might think are better than the Cardinals.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers? They were beaten by the Los Angeles Rams, whom the Cardinals blew out.
The Rams? Nope, the Cardinals beat them handily on the road.
The Buffalo Bills? The Bills are the only team with a better point differential, but they have lost twice now, once to the not-so-good Pittsburgh Steelers and then Monday night to the Tennessee Titans. The Cardinals blew out the same Titans team on the road in Week 1.
The Green Bay Packers? They got their doors blown off in Week 1.
The Cardinals have scored the fourth-most points in the league, averaging 32.3 points per game. They have allowed the second-fewest points per game at 18.2.
Quarterback Kyler Murray is playing at an MVP level. The defense has been great. They have a great kicker.
With the addition of tight end Zach Ertz, their offense might now be impossible to stop.
At this point, it is just foolish to say any other team is better.
Their big test is in Week 8, when they host the Packers on Thursday night. If they beat them and go 8-0 (there is no reason to believe they will lose or even struggle with the Houston Texans in Week 7), the Cardinals should be considered the Super Bowl favorites.
There is plenty of football left to be played, but make no mistake. This Cardinals team is playing better football and is more complete than any other team in the league right now and can cement that next week.
