Prediction

Angels 9, Astros 4

Moneyline (ML)

The Angels (+100) split a 2-game series against the San Diego Padres, picking up a 2-0 win Thursday to end a 3-game slide. The Astros (-110) beat the Texas Rangers yesterday and have won six of their last eight games and three consecutive series.

Those eight games were all in Houston though where they are 16-6 on the season. The Astros are hitting the road to play the Angels—who have a better home winning percentage than on the road—and Houston is 5-9 in away games.

TAKE ANGELS (+100). New to sports betting? A $100 bet on the Angels (EVEN/+100) pays a $100 profit if Los Angeles beats Houston.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

The Angels’ +1.5 (-162) line is terrible so we are going to look at Los Angeles’ alternate run line. McCullers is 0-2 on the road with an 11.37 ERA and 2.05 WHIP.

His numbers are actually good against Angels OF Mike Trout, but he’s given up a hit in only two at-bats against 3B Anthony Rendon and he has never pitched against SS Andrelton Simmons, who’s hitting .423 over his last seven games.

SPLASH on ANGELS -1.5 (+195). New to sports betting? A $50 bet on the Angels -1.5 (+195) pays a $97.50 profit if Los Angeles wins by 2 or more runs.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 8.5 (-110) is the play on the total. The Angels have the most Overs in the majors (23-14-1 Over/Under record). The Astros have the 7th-highest Over percentage in MLB (20-15-1). The last four Astros-Angels games have gone Over. Plus, the Over is 7-1 in the Angels’ last eight games as a home underdog.
