New York Giants co-owner Steve Tisch was unable to attend Eli Manning’s retirement press conference on Friday due to illness, but he did have a message relayed through fellow co-owner John Mara.
It wasn’t the traditional sort of congratulatory message, either. Rather, Tisch is already thinking ahead to Manning’s post-retirement career.
While both Mara and Manning have discussed a potential role within the Giants organization, Tisch is thinking that perhaps Manning puts his acting chops back to work and makes a move to the big screen.
“Eli, Steve did tell me he has some movie roles in store for you. You obviously made an impression on him with your fine acting in all those commercials you did,” Mara said with a laugh, referencing Manning’s DirecTV and ESPN commercials.
“He specifically mentioned, by the way, co-starring in Equalizer 3 with Denzel Washington. I guess I missed Equalizer 1 and 2, but I’m sure going to catch number 3 if you’re in it.”
Manning starring alongside Washington, who played “Eli” in “The Book of Eli” in 2010 would be fitting, but it really was more of a tongue-in-cheek moment.
Odds are, Manning’s acting days are a thing of the past and that his highlight reel will consist of Saturday Night Live and a little Dirty Dancing with Odell Beckham Jr.
