The New York Giants will almost certainly add a body or two to their depth at running back, and that could take place sooner rather than later.

In addition to wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin, the Giants will also have veteran running back Corey Clement in for a tryout over their three-day rookie minicamp this weekend.

The 26-year-old Clement originally signed with the Philadelphia Eagles as a rookie free agent following the 2017 NFL draft. He remained with the team through the 2020 regular-season and was credited by many with helping carry Philly to a Super Bowl LII title (108 total yards and 1 TD).

In 46 career games, Clement has rushed for 655 yards and seven touchdowns, adding 37 receptions for 340 yards and two touchdowns through the air. He can also serve as a return man, having gained 17 yards on seven punt returns and 477 yards on 19 kickoffs.

The issue with Clement has always been injuries and health. He suffered a knee injury in 2018, a shoulder injury in 2019 and dealt with COVID-19 during the 2020 season.

Perhaps somewhat ironically, Clement scored his first NFL touchdown against the Giants as a rookie in 2017. It came on a 15-yard run.
