Gervonta Davis vs. Mario Barrios fight odds, picks and prediction

Breaking down Saturday’s title fight between Gervonta Davis and Mario Barrios, with boxing odds, picks and predictions.

We get a 12-round WBA regular junior welterweight title bout Saturday when Gervonta Davis and Mario Barrios meet at State Farm Arena in Atlanta. The fight will start at approximately 9 p.m. ET. Below, we break down the Davis vs. Barrios odds, with boxing picks and predictions.

The fight card is televised on Showtime pay-per-view.

Davis is unbeaten in 24 career professional bouts, and he has failed to record a knockout just one time in that stretch. In case you were wondering, it was German Meraz taking him the distance in a six-round fight at the Beau Rivage Resort in Biloxi, Miss., Oct. 8, 2014.

Barrios has never lost in 26 career fights, but he is a decisive underdog in this one, and Davis is easily the best fighter he will have faced in his career. He is coming off a sixth-round knockout over Ryan Karl last time out on Halloween.

Davis vs. Barrios: Odds, predictions and picks

Davis (-450) will cost you four-and-a-half times your potential return. While he is expected to move along against the mostly untested Barrios (+333), the latter still has never had a setback in his career – so there is risk.

AVOID.

Davis vs. Barrios best bet

While playing Davis straight on the 3-way line comes with a lot of risk for a small reward, it’s better to get specific and look at the method of victory. DAVIS BY KO/TKO/TECHNICAL DECISION OR DQ (-165) is a much better value.

In addition, look to the individual round betting. Play a three-round block, rolling with DAVIS IN ROUND 6 (+1000), DAVIS IN ROUND 7 (+1000) and DAVIS IN ROUND 8 (+1000). Yes, even if Davis wins in one of those three rounds, you will lose two of those ends. But you’ll still be quite ahead.
