Gators ranked here in latest CBS Sports 1-131 rankings

The Gators come in just outside the Top 25 in CBS Sports’ latest full FBS rankings.

The Florida Gators are the No. 26 ranked team in CBS Sports’ latest 1-131 ranking of all Football Bowl Subdivision teams. They came in at No. 25 last week and are the eighth-highest SEC team in the rankings.

Florida fans have had an up-and-down season, in terms of confidence in the team. The season started as positive as possible, with a season-opening win against the defending Pac-12 champion Utah Utes, then a top-10 ranked team. The win was unexpected by most of the national media, with [autotag]Billy Napier[/autotag] making his Florida coaching debut in the game.

Following the victory, expectations were raised significantly heading into an SEC game against Kentucky. The Florida offense fell flat and the Wildcats were too much for Florida as they looked like a different team from the previous week. They then snuck out a close victory over in-state opponent USF. Despite the win, the performance was nothing to be proud of.

Last week, the Gators fell out of the top 25 in multiple polls after a 38-33 loss to Tennessee in a game that wasn’t as close as the score made it seem. The offense, however, did show signs of life. [autotag]Anthony Richardson[/autotag] threw for a career-high 453 yards and was responsible for four total touchdowns.

The Gators face a few more high-profile opponents this season including Georgia, Texas A&M and Florida State. It will be up to Napier and his staff to put their team in the best position to succeed.
