Overall: B
Wisconsin was able to go into halftime with a 30-to-25 lead but struggled on the offensive end to begin the second half. Considering, Wisconsin missed their first five shot attempts as Potter’s jumper with 14:20 to go in the game helped snap the Terrapins 10-to-2 run to begin the second half.
Despite the poor start to begin the second half Wisconsin did finish the game shooting 9-for-16 (56.2 percent) from the field. But Wisconsin had to overcome as big as a five-point deficit in the second half.
It looked like the Badgers slow start offensively may cost them in the final moments of the game. Prior to Davison’s game winning three the Badgers had another chance at the game winner.
Reuvers was able to come up with a steal against Cowan with 45 seconds to go in the game. But on Wisconsin’s offensive possession following Cowan’s turnover the Badgers struggled to get into their offensive playset as the Badgers ultimately turned the basketball over.
Davison was able to make up for the poor offensive play by making ultimately both the offensive and defensive play of the year in a 2-second span.
Although Davison’s three was big Reuvers also hit a clutch shot in the paint to cut Maryland’s lead to 54-to-53 with 1:03 to go in the game.
Reuvers was able to bounce back against Maryland after not playing his best basketball in the previous game against Penn State. Reuvers finished the game 7-for-15 from the field, registered a team high five rebounds, registered one steal and a block.
Potter also was able to play an effective game for Wisconsin down low. Potter, like he has been since he’s become eligible, played an active game on both sides of the floor. In his 13 minutes on the floor, Potter finished with 14 points on 6-for-7 shooting from the field as his only miss came from three but still managed to make two of his three attempts.
Game MVP: Brad Davison
Davison who has struggled with his shot over the last three games certainly stepped up and made some huge plays down the stretch as he willed Wisconsin to a victory against Maryland. Davison was able to play his game down the stretch and that was exactly what Wisconsin needed in order to pull out another important resume win as the Badgers are now tied for second in the Big Ten conference with Illinois at 4-2.
