Frank Vogel on is ‘hopeful’ Kyle Kuzma can play Sunday vs. Nuggets

Los Angeles Lakers coach Frank Vogel told reporters on Thursday that he hopes Kuzma practices Saturday and plays Sunday.

The Los Angeles Lakers have finally lost consecutive games for the first time this season and while they’ve been an incredible road team the entire season, they spent the last road trip without one of their key players in forward Kyle Kuzma.

Before the ankle injury that kept him out of the last five games, Kuzma had been adjusting to a smaller role with fewer minutes and fewer shots per game. But it sounds like Kuzma is getting closer to a return. Prior to Thursday’s game in Milwaukee, Lakers coach Frank Vogel told reporters he was hopeful that Kuzma could practice today and be available to play on Sunday against Denver.

Kuzma is averaging 11 points and three rebounds. But while he’s adjusting to fewer shots, he is shooting better from the 3-point line this season at 36 percent on nearly five attempts per game. Without Kuzma, Jared Dudley has carried a heavier load at the forward spot for the Lakers.
