Former Celtics two way point guard Tremont Waters traded to Los Angeles Lakers G League team

Waters will now suit up for the South Bay Lakers when he isn’t being called up to play with the parent club.

There have not been too many players in the 75-year history of the NBA who have played for both the Boston Celtics and their longtime rival Los Angeles Lakers, but there might soon be one more to add to the short list of such players.

According to a press release put out by the Lakers’ G League affiliate, the South Bay Lakers, the developmental team of Los Angeles announced that it had acquired the services of former Celtics two way floor general Tremont Waters and a 2022 G League draft second-round pick in a trade with the Milwaukee Bucks’ G League affiliate, the Wisconsin Herd, for guard Frank Mason III and South Bay’s 2022 NBA G League first-round draft pick.

The LSU product has earned two 10-day contracts this season, one from the Toronto Raptors in late December, and another from the Washington Wizards, and could conceivably see floor time with the Lakers.
