Former Auburn wideout hauls in first TD of season

He helped the Giants to a 23-17 victory.

Former Auburn wideout [autotag]Darius Slayton[/autotag] made his school proud on Sunday.

The former Giants wide receiver, who has been in trade talks since the offseason this year, hauled in the Giants’ first touchdown of the day against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. The go-route, which was Slayton’s first touchdown catch of the year, helped to propel New York over Jacksonville 23-17.

Slayton’s status with the Giants has been a bit rocky, but he’s emerged as one of quarterback Daniel Jones’ most reliable targets over the past two weeks. Slayton was particularly effective during the team’s game against the Packers in London, where he caught six passes for 79 yards.

His best year came during his rookie year with the Giants where he caught eight touchdowns, but his production has steadily decreased since then — perhaps this season will be the resurgence he and New York have been looking for.

Slayton and the Giants are 6-1 and are next set to play the Seattle Seahawks on the road next Sunday.
