Florida receiver Kadarius Toney is one of the most dynamic playmakers in the nation. His speed and agility make him a nuisance with the ball in his hands.
In 2020, he became a much stronger route-runner, and as a result, his role in Florida’s offensive increased. He’s now reaping the rewards of a phenomenal season, as he was named a finalist for the Paul Hornung Award on Wednesday by the Louisville Sports Commission.
The Hornung Award is given to the most versatile player in the nation. The other finalists are Michael Carter (North Carolina), D’Wayne Eskridge (Western Michigan), Travis Etienne (Clemson) and Devonta Smith (Alabama).
Toney is Florida’s leader in receptions and yards, with 70 catches for 984 yards. He’s second on the team in receiving touchdowns with 10.
On the ground, Toney has 174 yards and a touchdown, and on punt and kick returns he has a combined 294 yards and a touchdown.
Assuming he departs following (or prior to) the Cotton Bowl for the NFL draft, he will almost certainly find himself a Day 1 or Day 2 selection. Now, he’ll see if he can earn some hardware on his way out.
