Florida football has long been a strong draw on Saturdays as far as viewership is concerned dating back to the Steve Spurrier era. The Gators continued that legacy this fall according to Joe Pompliano’s compilation of average viewership per game, finishing among the top 10 schools during the 2024 campaign.
According to Pompliano’s numbers, the Orange and Blue sneak in at No. 10 with an average of 4.3 million viewers per game. Florida is also the eighth Southeastern Conference program on the list.
The most-watched team this season per the metric was the Georgia Bulldogs, who drew an average audience of 8.6 million for each of their 12 games. The Ohio State Buckeyes are second with 6.8 million per, followed by the Alabama Crimson Tide (6.6 million), Texas Longhorns (6.4 million) and Tennessee Volunteers (5.4 million), respectively, in the top five.
The next five begins with the other non-SEC team included — the reigning national champion Michigan Wolverines, who drew 5.2 million per — followed by the Texas A&M Aggies (4.9 million), LSU Tigers (4.8 million), Kentucky Wildcats (4.5 million) and Florida.
I guess it really does mean more in the SEC.
