What are the Cleveland Browns going to do in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft? It’s a burning question that finally gets answered on Thursday night.
Months of mock drafts, projections, arguments, film sessions, interviews and research all come together tonight. What will GM Andrew Berry do in the first round of his first draft running the Browns?
There are a few options with the No. 10 pick. Should the Browns keep the pick, the players who figure to have made the final cut for the new regime (in alphabetical order):
- Mekhi Becton, OT, Louisville
- Derrick Brown, DT, Auburn
- Isaiah Simmons, LB, Clemson
- Andrew Thomas, OT, Georgia
- Jedrick Wills, OT, Alabama
- Tristan Wirfs, OT, Iowa
It’s hard to imagine the Browns choosing any other players with the 10th pick.
There will be opportunities to trade back from No. 10. Recent rumors given various levels of credulity come from Denver (No. 15), Atlanta (No. 16) and Philadelphia (No. 21).
Or Berry could prove he’s really not kidding about his “aggressively acquiring talent” mantra and trade up from No. 10.
Prediction
In the end, I think the Browns will trade back from No. 10. My money is on working a deal with the Broncos to pick up No. 15 and two of Denver’s three third-round picks. With the No. 15 pick, the Browns select Houston OT Josh Jones.
In addition, I predict the Browns will make a trade for Washington Redskins left tackle Trent Williams.
