Thursday’s international friendly between the U.S. Men’s National Team and Wales was the first time the U.S. had taken the field in nine months amid the coronavirus pandemic.
And, theoretically, a matchup against Wales would mean that this young USMNT roster would have a chance to go up against Tottenham’s Gareth Bale.
But Bale may have had other plans.
Despite being declared fit for Thursday’s friendly, Bale was neither listed in the Starting XI nor on Wales’ bench. During the first half, the Fox Sports broadcast showed a shot of Bale sitting in a suite with a laptop.
That was when fans came to a conclusion about Bale’s absence: He was totally watching golf.

Bales is a huge golf fan and avid golfer. Being that Thursday was the opening round of the Masters, yeah, Bale was probably watching golf.
Bale's watching the Masters on that laptop, and you know it.
