Fan dumped popcorn on Russell Westbrook as he departed game with injury

After Russell Westbrook injured his ankle, a Philadelphia 76ers fan dumped popcorn on him as he walked into the tunnel to get evaluated.

After an employee suffered a workplace injury on Wednesday, a bystander dumped popcorn on him.

Washington Wizards point guard Russell Westbrook twisted his right ankle with about 10:30 to play in Game 2 against the Philadelphia 76ers. As he was walking into the tunnel to the locker room, a fan from appeared to pour popcorn on him from above.

Westbrook was restrained by Wizards staff as he appeared to try to get back out of the tunnel to confront the person who dumped the popcorn. Westbrook pointed up toward the fan, and it appeared a couple fans in the area also pointing toward the person who they thought did it.

The suspected fan was ejected from the game, according to SportsCenter.

The Wizards trailed by 17 points at the time Westbrook got injured. They lost to the Sixers by a score of 120-95.

Westbrook finished with 10 points, 11 rebounds and six assists in in 29 minutes of play. Shooting guard Bradley Beal had 33 points in 35 minutes.

Philadelphia center Joel Embiid and point guard Ben Simmons had 22 points apiece to lead the Sixers to the victory.

Philadelphia now holds a 2-0 lead over the Wizards. Game 3 is scheduled for Saturday with a tipoff of 6 p.m. Central Time.
