As we approach the 2024 NFL draft, there’s a general consensus that Caleb Williams will be the first quarterback and player off the board. After that, though things get interesting.
While Drake Maye had long been considered QB2, [autotag]Jayden Daniels[/autotag]’ stock is rising considerably. ESPN’s Louis Riddick recently said he thinks the LSU Heisman winner is “clearly” the second-best quarterback in the draft.
“For me, I never had any question from the get-go when I started watching these quarterbacks as to who No. 2 was,” Riddick said. “Jayden Daniels for me is clearly No. 2… I think people are going to be very impressed with Jayden Daniels as well as we move through this draft process.
“As long as Jayden Daniels doesn’t do anything to hurt himself in this pre-draft process, and as long as people are comfortable with ultimately what his verified are… The way this young man operates in the pocket… some of the touch throws he made are sick.”

Riddick said he felt Maye’s tape was lacking, while he was impressed with what Daniels does throwing the ball inside and outside the pocket.
We’ll see if this prediction ultimately comes to pass, but there seems to be a growing sentiment that Daniels will join the Washington Commanders with the second pick in the draft.
