Dolphins RB De’Von Achane to play vs. Commanders

Miami gets more help back this weekend.

The Miami Dolphins running back room looked a little thin last weekend, as they had just Raheem Mostert, Jeff Wilson Jr. and Darrynton Evans, who was elevated from the practice squad, to beat the New York Jets.

Now, the Dolphins are getting some reinforcements, as head coach Mike McDaniel told the media on Friday that rookie running back De’Von Achane will play.

Achane had been a star earlier in the season, rushing for 460 yards and five touchdowns on 12.1 yards per carry through his first four games while adding another nine receptions for 70 yards and two more scores as a receiver.

After a knee injury landed him on injured reserve, he returned to action against the Las Vegas Raiders. However, just three snaps into that game, he went down again. The knee kept him out the rest of that contest and the following battle with the Jets.

Achane’s return should help open things up for McDaniel and quarterback Tua Tagovailoa to get the most out of the unit.
