The Denver Broncos lost a key member of their coaching staff earlier this week when defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero left the club in a lateral move to join the Carolina Panthers.
When news of Evero joining the Panthers became official, outlets began running stories using a Getty Images photo of the coordinator from his time in Denver. There was just one problem.
It wasn’t Evero in the photo.
Getty mistakenly tagged a photo of Broncos intern coach DeAndre Thompson as “Ejiro Evero” in its photo database that is used by countless media outlets. Thompson joined the club last year as the team’s Billy Thompson Coaching Fellow for the 2022 season.
Here’s how he reacted to seeing his photo being used in the place of Evero’s:
Just want to thank everybody that believed in me to get me to this point!
“God did” @EBassey21 🤣🤣Bruh. This is crazy https://t.co/nLm5XQ3jdb

The tweet that Thompson was replying to has since been deleted, but here are a few screenshots of other outlets making the same mistake:
Shoutout to @CoachDre12 who is getting a lot of love today after Getty Images made him the new Panthers defensive coordinator. pic.twitter.com/d0ny0getPB

Thompson has since joined the Detroit Lions’ coaching staff.
