To no surprise, Indianapolis Colts running back Nyheim Hines has been named the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week for his efforts against the Carolina Panthers in Week 16.
The second-year running back had a historic day returning punts. He finished with three returns for 195 yards and two touchdowns. His one touchdown alone was probably good enough to get him the honor of Player of the Week, but Hines added a second touchdown for good measure.
You knew this one was coming.

Hines started off his day taking a punt on the first drive for 40 yards. That set up a touchdown for the Colts. On his next return, Hines went 84 yards to the house to give the Colts a big lead in the first quarter. The former fourth-round pick then went 71 yards later in the game for a touchdown to solidify his role as the team’s return man.
It will be interesting to see what happens in the future if Chester Rogers returns because the return job is Hines’ to lose.
