With just a few weeks until the 2023 college football season kicks off, we are starting to see the preseason polls roll out. Earlier in the week the USA TODAY Coaches Poll was released with North Carolina making the top 25.
And we should expect them to be there when the Associated Press Top 25 is released next week. With the poll scheduled to come out on Monday afternoon, one voter gave everyone a look at his ballot.
Brett McMurphy of Action Network released his ballot for the top 25 and he not only has UNC in there but inside the top 20 at No. 18:
My preseason @AP_Top25 ballot. But first a very heartfelt ❤️ thank you to every single one of you for not disagreeing w/any of my rankings
1 Georgia
2 Michigan
3 Florida St
4 Ohio St
5 Alabama
6 LSU
7 Washington
8 Penn St

13 Oregon…— Brett McMurphy (@Brett_McMurphy) August 9, 2023
That appears to be around where UNC has been ranked in preseason polls from various sites. They are anywhere from 18-24 in the polls that have been released so far.
It’s also a good look for the program to see at least one writer have them in the top 20 before the season starts.
UNC will open the season in primetime against South Carolina in Charlotte before returning home to face off against Appalachian State in Week 2.
