The Cincinnati Bengals (10-7) punched their ticket into the NFL playoffs as the No. 4 seed in the AFC. They join 13 other NFL teams focused on Super Bowl LVI, which takes place Sunday, Feb. 13, 2022, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif.
The Bengals had already locked up the AFC North before Week 18, so they were able to rest many of their starters in the season finale, a 21-16 loss to the Browns. They were 8-4 on the season against AFC foes, including a 32-13 win over the Raiders in Las Vegas back in Week 11.
Cincinnati’s high-powered offense tied for 7th in the NFL in points. QB Joe Burrow had an excellent season, leading the league with 8.9 yards per pass attempt.
Burrow is blessed with an outstanding supporting cast, including WR Ja’Marr Chase and WR Tee Higgins, who combined for more than 2,500 receiving yards. WR Tyler Boyd was a solid third option in the passing game, as he topped 800 yards through the air for a fourth straight season.
RB Joe Mixon had a strong year in his own right. He finished third in the league with 1,205 rushing yards, while crossing the goal line 16 times (13 rushing, 3 receiving).
This is a team that has proven they can hang with anyone in the league. They are 4-3 against teams that made the playoffs, including a win against Kansas City in Week 17. Of the three losses against playoff teams, two of them came in overtime.
