So far this offseason, there has been a lot of talk about who will be in the hunt for former Clemson wide receiver Tee Higgins and where he might land in free agency. All of that talk has quickly come to rest.
According to reports from NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, the Cincinnati Bengals have informed the star wide receiver that he will be franchise-tagged by the team. A solid payday for Higgins for a year, with an expected $21.8 million coming his way. The only real negative here is that it delays a long-term contract for him, but with the way contracts scale by year, I’m sure that’s not a huge issue for Higgins.
Since joining the NFL, Higgins has recorded 257 catches for 3,684 yards and 24 touchdowns. He is one of the brightest young stars in the position.
