Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes among presenters for USA TODAY High School Sports Awards show

Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes will present one of the football awards for the show.

The annual USA TODAY High School Sports Awards show is taking place virtually this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but they’re still getting some big names to help make the event special.

While Jesse Palmer and Sage Steele are set to host the event, stars such as Drew Brees, Stephen Curry, Michael Phelps, Venus Williams, Gabby Douglas, and many others are among the presenters for various awards.  Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes is among the slate of star athletes who will present awards to exemplary high school athletes. He’ll specifically present one of the football awards.

The awards show is localized, so you can find nominees for Missouri and Kansas area high school sports on the Awards show homepage. There are a number of different awards presented to high school athletes, boys and girls from Fall and Winter sports, recognizing excellence in individual sports. Then there are a number of premier awards including Player of the Year, Boys and Girls Athlete of the Year, Team of the Year and Coach of the Year. Unfortunately, since Spring sports were unable to be completed due to the pandemic, there won’t be any awards presented for those sports.

You can watch the show live on the USA TODAY Sports High School Sports Awards show website or the USA TODAY Network Events YouTube channel at 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 18.
