Celtics vs. 76ers Part II: Prediction, point spread, odds, over/under, betting picks (Jan. 22)

The Celtics and Sixers close out a two-game series on Friday. Here’s our best bet for the game.

The Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers close out a two-game series at the Wells Fargo Center on Friday night, and if you’re looking to do some last-minute betting research, you’re in luck! We’ll give you the latest point spread, moneyline odds and over-under number, as well as the information you’ll need to make the smartest bet on BetMGM.

The game tips off at 7:30 p.m. ET and can be seen on ESPN.

The Sixers beat the Celtics 117-109 on Wednesday, as big man Joel Embiid returned to the lineup and dropped 42 points to lead Philadelphia to victory. Can the Celtics avoid the mini-sweep on Friday? Let’s take a closer look at the betting lines.

Steph Curry is available for the Sixers after sitting out Wednesday for conditioning reasons, but Mike Scott and Vincent Poirier are out. The Celtics are without Jayson Tatum, Carsen Edwards and Romeo Langford, and Aaron Nesmith is questionable.

The lines, courtesy of BetMGM

  • Point spread: 76ers -4.5
  • Money line: 76ers -190 / Celtics +155
  • Over-under: 222.5

Advice and prediction

In an NBA season filled with two-game series due to the NBA’s efforts to reduce travel, we’ve seen it’s been tough for teams two win consecutive games against the same team – yet I don’t see a reason to expect a different result on Friday.

Joel Embiid is both healthy and dominant, Steph Curry should return to the lineup to give the Sixers even more depth, the 76ers are one of the best defensive teams in the league (4th in adjusted defensive rating) and the Celtics are still without their best player in Jayson Tatum. Jaylen Brown and Kemba Walker should keep this one close, but take the 76ers -4.5.

Prediction: 76ers 113, Celtics 104
